recognizing harmful products in beauty

I dislike the fact that there are harmful chemicals used in cosmetics and identifying those toxins can be super inconvenient. The fact is that products we use every day can be detrimental to our health over time.

An unusual ingredient that is found in cosmetics is formaldehyde (yuck!). This can cause skin irritation, respiratory problems, and even cancer. Formaldehyde is found in cosmetic products like nail polish remover, nail polish, soaps, and makeup.

There are products that exist that are safer alternatives, but they can be hard to identify because products using harmful ingredients do not include warning labels. This can make it difficult to choose the best option for our health and presents a risk to those that are exposed as consumers or working in the beauty industry (nail technicians, cosmetologists…).

This blog shares the transition to a beauty routine that doesn’t include harmful toxins. Fortunately, the cosmetic industry is always changing, and there is always a new product to get excited about. However, it is a challenge to identify the best products with limited information.

The health effects may not be noticeable a first, but the truth is we only have one body during out lifetime — let us take care of it.

I can’t wait to start this journey with you!
